90 hours of hand sewing. No machine.

This 8inch by 6inch work is crewel embroidery with regular embroidery floss on muslin. The design came from my friend's 4 year old daughter's coloring book. I photocopied it, then drew over it with fabric transferable ink. I ironed the pattern onto the muslin, then stitched the horse using simple split stitch. I chose the colors and added some design elements because there was no way I was doing the whole horse in one solid color without losing my freakin' mind.

Do please, please full view for the detail.

Celtic Horse by `Cosira I don't know why I didn't put this up as a DD when it first came out, but here it is. "So many hours of dedication to tiny detail and beautiful color choices make it just stunning." (Suggested by `DragonWinter and Featured by `dedredhed)

I cross stitch in my free time and I know how much effort goes into work like yours. The horse is beautiful and I like the Celtic theme. Keep up the good work.

Follow me, I'm lost too.

Thank you so much. I had bronchitis in Germany when I did that, so I had about three weeks of illness, then two weeks of just wanting to finish it for a total of five weeks. It was my second ever embroidery project.

I'm glad you like it.

Making fun of the powerful is Bravery, because they can make you pay for what you say. This is why Satire is the weapon of the Clever Courageous. Making fun of someone weaker than you are, that is merely Cowardice.

How do you know unless you try? If you can stick something sharp through fabric, you can do this.

wow, that's absolutely amazing. there's not a lot of embroidery in the textiles gallery, and this is some of the best that i've ever seen. i embroidered a little koi fish about a tenth of the size of that once, and it took me forever. you must have some serious dedication to make something like that.

i want something beautiful to die for, to make it beautiful to live

*smile* Thank you so much. It was my second ever embroidery project. I'm basically self taught, so it took me about five weeks.

I've got another project in the works. I'll post it when I'm done.
